The Badminton World Federation responsibly evaluates the performance of players from all over the world as per the tournament performance and then displays the list. The ranking is on the basis of tournaments sponsored by the BWF.

The ranking is then used to decide who is qualified for the Summer Olympic games, World Championships and BWF World Tours. Those players who are under 19 years of age are eligible to be ranked by the Federation.
